Hydroseeding often called hydro mulching or hydraulic mulch seeding is the preferred method of planting virtually any grass, or any other erosion control seed.

It is great for large-scale projects due to labor and cost saving – especially for hard-to-seed areas and steep slopes.

The hydroseeding process begins by combining seed, hydraulic mulch, fertilizer, soil amendments, and bonding agents. The mixed materials are then pumped from the tank and sprayed onto the desired soil.

The material contains a green nontoxic/nonstaining dye and usually is referred to as a slurry. The mulch retains extra moisture and helps support the seed and seedlings throughout the germination process into deep root growth.

Hydroseeding has become a mainstream method due to quick germination, establishing vegetation, near-immediate erosion control, and significant cost savings compared to sod.
